Opera Gallery Dubai Celebrates The Life And Work Of Award Winning French Painter and French Sculptor This Spring

Dubai, UAE – 30 March 2015 – Opera Gallery Dubai, part of the internationally renowned Opera Gallery network, is set to exhibit two significant contemporary artists André Brasilier and Mauro Corda from April 15th to April 29th 2015. Brasilier’s collection of paintings will include more than twenty new pieces whilst Corda’s creativity will be highlighted through a series of selected works from the past ten years.

Award-winning Brasilier with over sixty years’ career on canvas is considered as one of France’s most important and distinguished living artists. In celebration of his life and work, Opera Gallery will present a touring exhibition starting in Dubai and due to travel to Hong Kong and finish in Seoul. The tour will include his most notable pieces of artwork and themes as awanderer and observer of life’s simplicities. Straight from his studio, the gallery is thrilled to showcase his inspiring new collection through a mixture of painting and sculptures.

Corda’s creativity is expressed through his sculptures, inspired by his fascination with the human body. Aiming to capture the shape of the soul, Corda’s deep imagination transforms bronze, marble and iron materials into delicate portraits of people in the most diverse roles, environments and situations. Opera Gallery celebrates this vivacious artist with a modest retrospective selection of his creative work over the last decade, showcasing his evolution in material and style. Corda is known in the region through his iconic sculptures which are part of The Ritz hotel in DIFC.

Speaking about the new exhibition, Sylvain P. Gaillard, General Manager, Opera Gallery, said ‘We are honored to be able to continuously bring international contemporary artists to Dubai to exhibit new and old pieces of their collections. André Brasilier’s work is recognized globally and will be travelling through The Middle East and Asia whilst Corda’s striking sculptures, familiar to the region through the large shark displayed at The Ritz hotel entrance along with his other pieces throughout the hotel, demonstrate our commitment to bringing only the best’.

Since Opera Gallery Dubai opened its doors six years ago, the gallery has significantly contributed to establishing Dubai as a global hub for culture and art with its cutting edge approach for both exhibition and commercial purposes.
